Instructions
In a medium saucepan, combine the whole milk and heavy cream over medium heat. Stir occasionally until the mixture is hot but not boiling.
Once the milk mixture is warm, add the dark chocolate chips and granulated sugar to the saucepan. Stir continuously until the chocolate is fully melted and the mixture is smooth and creamy.
Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the caramel sauce, vanilla extract, and sea salt. Mix well to ensure everything is fully incorporated.
Taste the hot chocolate and adjust the sweetness by adding more sugar or caramel sauce if desired.
Carefully pour the salted caramel hot chocolate into mugs, leaving some space at the top.
Top each mug with a generous dollop of whipped cream and drizzle with extra caramel sauce over the top for a decadent finish.
Optionally, sprinkle a pinch of sea salt on top of the whipped cream for an extra touch of flavor.
