vanilla ice cream for serving (optional)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
Beat in the vanilla extract and egg until fully combined.
Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
Fold in the chocolate chips and walnuts (if using) until evenly distributed.
Grease a 10-inch oven-safe skillet with non-stick cooking spray or a little extra butter.
Pour the cookie dough into the skillet and spread it out evenly, smoothing the top.
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the center is set but slightly soft.
Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Serve warm, optionally topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Notes
Serve directly in the skillet for a rustic look or slice into wedges and top with ice cream.
